ONGOING BIG BOY PROJECT:
THE MAIN GIRL, THE COLLECTION OF SELECTED TEXTS AND ESSAYS FROM THE LAST FEW YEARS:-2021/2/3/4
LUKA IS OK (PLANNING MY FUNERAL IS HARDER THAN
YOU’D THINK)
A book based on the structure and approach of Dante’s ‘Inferno’, alongside an array of soundscapes and graphic works.
The work is supported and combined with various inter-media, literary and contemporary references framed by multi-temporal popular culture. Texts written in the previous two years are combined and reformatted into a narrative of guiding and finding oneself while navigating different aspects of life.
The series of graphic works have been developed in collaboration with AI (DALL-E) which re-interpret the written material and indirectly relate to Gustav Dore’s original drawings made for Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy.’
The process of deconstructing and reconstructing multiple versions of oneself (aspects and stages of one’s identity), occurs by creating a methodology based on combining specific principles of self-exposure therapy and experience-based research.
The project as a whole focuses on one’s own relationship with ‘Todestrieb‘(1) also known as the ‘Death Drive’, and more precisely, the continuous conflict with one’s own self-destructiveness in order to create space for transfigurative and regenerative intervention of the selves.
By writing, different levels of the subconscious are gradually activated,
re-interpreted and returned to the external world in a different, more tangible form. Through an evolving narrative of renewal, this process produces a customized archive, materializing a continuous path towards greater self-understanding over time. Prioritizing self-expression is key in order to understand one’s own thought processes, emotions and feelings in a more comprenhensible way. This is achieved through combining text with audio-visual and performative elements.
