Presented at Design Academy Eindhoven in January 2022, SOMOS Gallery Berlin, October 2022
The multimedia installation OBJECTS OF ATONEMENT (Everything Should Be Customised)
exhibits Luka ’s varied re-creation of his unfolding life narrative
through text, photography, and sculpture.
This work is presented in tandem with the performances:
TRANSFORMATION 01: ATONEMENT and TRANSFORMATION 02: JUSTIFICATION.
A series of wearable objects form the basis of OBJECTS OF ATONEMENT
(Everything Should Be Customised), presented alongside corresponding images and short texts.
To create this work, Luka customises found objects with sentimental value,
transforming and updating their use. The toy race car becomes a gag,
bits of lace dangle as earrings, and tiny pencils become nail tips.
In a continuous cycle of regeneration, Luka uses the objects to transform himself
and transforms the objects using himself.
Through this conversion, memories are not only reclaimed, but rewritten–
finding empowerment in the queering of this found object archive.
Each wearable item carries with it an evolving narrative of renewal.
This process produces a customised archive, materialising the continual journey towards greater self-understanding through time.

THE BOOK OF ATONEMENT
THE STICKERS OF ATONEMENT
<EXTRACT FROM THE BOOK>
SATISFIED TRUCK FUCKERThere I was
Laying like I fell out of a trucker's den
I notice myself getting bigger
Getting harder
Harder to reach for some; more accessible to myself
The feet are perfectly crossed,
the socks are on
It is time to take the socks off
And make things happen-
I will not be diagnosed again
By transforming, I grow, by growing i understand
By understanding, I am both
By being both, I am going downstairs to make a sandwich
And when I eat the sandwich can I rest
Only by adding a layer of mayo could I be satisfied
once i am satisfied, its over for everyone
