Co-curation of a performance day at Haus Der Statistik (Berlin) with Alizee Gavory Livranovitch in collaboration with Queer Trans Liberation and The Lonely Arts Collective, 10th July 2022.
Queer Meltdown Part One taps into the practice of voyeurism and approaches the subject carefully yet tensely, highlighting the queer experience whilst showing how different artists interpret the very notion and experience it in their own time..
By reclaiming the narrative, this time, we, as queer people, create the voyeuristic space we want. WE take control. We choose to reveal our pain, thoughts and emotions.
We feel safe with each other. We allow each other to see.
‘Voyeurism allows us to experience all the excitement of disaster, catastrophe and pain, to witness the most horrible human events, without any danger of feeling real pain. ’
—Gerald Mast
As well as the performances, there was a shop organised by Hannah Whitlow with artists who have things such as post-ers, clothes, zines, etc. available for purchase in order to create a budget as well as support individuals and freelancers in order to make further art creation possible. The table was not only used as a “shop,” but as a place of presenting works in differ-ent contexts.
Thanks to Anna Zoe, Alizee Gavory Livranovitch, Darta Maija Zegele, SESAMI EE, Louise Mathilde, Louise des Places, Lauren Treharne, Hannah Whitlow, , NINANIÑA, The Lonely Arts Collective, Queer Trans Liberation
